Where it started
It didn't start as a gun cleaner.
GunWerkz started in a garage in the summer of 2010, not in a lab. Dave had spent 40 years drilling and tapping metal as a general contractor and cabinet maker, and every drilling fluid he'd ever used worked fine but left an oily mess that was miserable to clean up.
So he mixed his own. Using natural fluids from the same bench where he stained cabinets, he skipped the petrochemicals entirely and experimented until he landed on a formula that cut through 3/4-inch steel plate as well as anything on the shelf, with none of the smell or mess.
"I wonder how well it would clean my guns?"

Dave gave him a bottle to try. A few days later, the friend called back with one instruction: don't change a thing. He said it was the best gun cleaner he'd ever used. That accidental discovery became GunWerkz.

Gun-Werkz has been sold in person at gun shows for over a decade. The cleaner comes from the founder's own research and testing. The oil and grease are food-grade, sourced and repackaged under the Gun-Werkz name. All of it, plus Bore Vipers and cleaning kits, is non-toxic and biodegradable, whether you're cleaning a rifle or a sidearm.
The cleaner in that line stays active on the surface for up to two weeks instead of the 15 to 30 minutes most solvents give you, so one application actually has time to finish the job.

Every bottle is induction-sealed with a foil seal to industry standard before it ships. Transit leaks are rare, and if it ever happens, contact us and we'll replace it promptly.
GunWerkz cleaner is built for routine, regular maintenance. For heavier carbon or copper fouling, plug the barrel with a silicone rubber plug, fill it, and let it soak for a day. Then run your normal cleaning pass. The solution can be poured off and reused afterward.
The regular Gun Cleaner is a dedicated cleaning solvent for cutting fouling and residue. The PLC is our all-in-one that cleans, lubricates, and protects in a single step, built for routine maintenance rather than heavy fouling. We call it PLC instead of the more common industry term CLP since those letters are trademarked. Same idea, our own formula.
No. GunWerkz is formulated to be non-toxic with no harsh chemical odor, so you can clean indoors without opening every window in the house.
Most solvents evaporate in 15 to 30 minutes, so you keep reapplying mid-clean. GunWerkz stays active on the surface for up to two weeks, so a single application goes further and you use less of it per cleaning.
As a starting point: cleaner removes fouling from the bore and action, oil goes on parts that need lubrication, and grease goes on parts with heavier metal-to-metal contact.

Unopened bottles hold up well. In our own testing, one sitting unopened for a couple of years still performed like new. Store it unopened, in a cool spot, out of direct sunlight.
